Frequently Asked Questions

Crop PDF FAQs

Answers to the questions people ask most about using Crop PDF.

How do I crop a PDF?

Open Crop PDF on MyPDFMate, upload your file, drag the crop box over the page preview (or set the margins) and click Crop PDF. The crop is applied to every page.

Can I crop a PDF for free without Adobe?

Yes. Crop PDF is free, needs no sign-up and runs in any browser.

Can I crop just one page?

Crop PDF applies the same crop to every page. To crop one page, extract it, crop it, and recombine the document with Merge PDF.

How do I cut out a specific part of a PDF?

To keep only one area of every page, drag the crop box around it in Crop PDF. To hide a section in the middle of a page instead, cover it with Redact PDF.

Does cropping delete the content outside the crop area?

No. Cropping hides it by changing the visible page area, but the hidden content stays in the file. To remove sensitive content, see Redact PDF.

How do I permanently crop a PDF?

After cropping, convert the file with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF. Only the visible area is kept, so the hidden parts are gone for good.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. The page isn't re-rendered; only the visible area changes.

How do I remove white margins from a PDF?

Drag the crop box to the edge of your content in Crop PDF. Every page gets the same trimmed margins.

How do I crop a PDF on Windows or Mac?

Use Crop PDF in any browser on either system. Windows has no built-in PDF cropper; on a Mac, Preview can crop too: drag a selection on the page and choose Tools → Crop.

Why can't I crop my PDF?

The file is usually password-protected or restricted against changes. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first (you'll need to know it). If the file won't load at all, try Repair PDF.

Why didn't my file get smaller after cropping?

Cropping hides content rather than deleting it, so the file size stays about the same. Use Compress PDF to reduce the size.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser, and your PDF stays on your device.
