Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026 · Effective: September 6, 2026 · Policy version 1
What we always use
A handful of strictly necessary cookies and browser storage: your cookie choice, your light/dark theme, abuse protection and crash reports. No analytics trackers today.
What we ask permission for
Advertising cookies from Google AdSense, which fund our free tools. They are set only after you accept them, and you can withdraw at any time.
Your documents are separate
Cookies never touch your files. Processing happens in your browser or on servers that delete files as soon as the job finishes. See our Privacy Policy.
You are in control
Accept all, reject all, or pick categories. Change your mind from the footer at any time. We honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal automatically.
Your current choices
Read live from this browser. Nothing here is sent to us.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how MyPDFMate ("MyPDFMate", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on www.mypdfmate.comand its subpages (the "Site"). It tells you what these technologies are, why we use them, which third parties may set them, and how you can control them.
This policy is part of our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly, and it should be read together with our Terms of Service. It applies to every visitor, whether or not you are signed in to a Google account, and regardless of the device or browser you use.
3. How and why we use them
We group everything into three categories. Only the first one runs without asking you; the other two stay off until you switch them on.
| Category | Default | Legal basis (EEA/UK) | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Always on | Strictly necessary exemption / legitimate interest | Required for the website to work: remembering your cookie choices, your light/dark theme, protecting the service from abuse, and reporting crashes so we can fix them. These cannot be switched off. |
| Analytics & performance | Off | Consent | Would let us measure which tools are used most so we can improve them. MyPDFMate does not load any analytics service today. If we ever add one, it will only run when this switch is on. |
| Advertising | Off | Consent | Lets Google AdSense and its certified partners show ads that keep MyPDFMate free, measure how ads perform, and limit how often you see the same ad. With this switched off you may still see ads, but they will not be based on cookies or your activity. |
We do not use cookies to identify you by name, to build a profile that we sell, or to read the contents of the documents you process. We have no user accounts, so there is nothing to log in to and no login cookie.
4. Cookies and storage set by MyPDFMate
These are the only items we place ourselves. All of them are strictly necessary for the Site to work as you expect, so they do not require consent, but we still want you to know exactly what they are.
| Name | Set by | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
mpm_consentwww.mypdfmate.com | MyPDFMate | Cookie | Stores your cookie choices (policy version, date, categories, and how you chose) so we do not ask again on every visit and can prove consent was given. | 12 months |
mpm_consentwww.mypdfmate.com | MyPDFMate | Local storage | Durable copy of the same consent record. Some browsers delete script-set cookies after 7 days; this copy restores your choice so you are not asked again. | 12 months, or until you clear site data |
themewww.mypdfmate.com | MyPDFMate | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark interface. | Until you clear site data |
mypdfmate_entrance_revealedwww.mypdfmate.com | MyPDFMate | Session storage | Shows the homepage loading animation only once per browser session. | Browser session |
sentryReplaySessionwww.mypdfmate.com | Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) | Session storage | Links crash and error diagnostics from the same session so we can reproduce and fix bugs. Text you type and media are masked before anything is sent. Sentry sets no cookies. | Browser session |
Error monitoring is provided by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). It sets no cookies. When something breaks, a technical report (page URL, browser type, the error, and a masked replay of the interface with your typed text and media hidden) is sent to Sentry so we can fix the bug. Your document contents are never included.
Analytics:we do not currently load any analytics or audience-measurement service, so no analytics cookies are set. The "Analytics & performance" switch exists so that, if we ever add such a service, it will only run with your permission. We will update this page and ask you again before that happens.
5. Advertising cookies and Google AdSense
MyPDFMate is free to use. To cover the cost of running it we may show advertisements served by Google AdSense, a service of Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) and, for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
We only enable advertising cookies after you accept them.Until then, no request is made to Google's advertising servers from this Site, or, where we use Google's cookie-less mode, Google is told through Consent Mode that it may not store or read cookies and may only show non-personalised ads. When you make or change a choice we immediately pass it to Google using Consent Mode v2 (the ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalizationsignals) so Google's tags honour it before setting anything.
The advertising cookies Google may set once you have accepted them are:
| Name | Set by | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
__gadswww.mypdfmate.com | Cookie | Serves ads, measures ad performance and prevents fraud and abuse. Set on our domain by Google's ad script. | 13 months | |

__gpi_optoutwww.mypdfmate.com | Cookie | Records that you opted out of personalised advertising. | 13 months | |
__eoiwww.mypdfmate.com | Cookie | Serves ads, measures ad performance and prevents fraud; supports interest-based ads. | 6 months | |
IDEdoubleclick.net | Google (DoubleClick) | Cookie | Shows ads relevant to you across websites, measures whether ads led to an action, and limits how often you see the same ad. | 13 months (EEA, UK, Switzerland) / up to 24 months elsewhere |
test_cookiedoubleclick.net | Google (DoubleClick) | Cookie | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies. | 15 minutes |
NIDgoogle.com | Cookie | Remembers your preferences on Google services and helps Google show relevant ads on its own properties. | 6 months | |
ANIDgoogle.com | Cookie | Used by Google for ads personalisation across Google services. | 13 months (EEA, UK, Switzerland) / 24 months elsewhere | |
DSIDdoubleclick.net | Google (DoubleClick) | Cookie | Identifies a signed-in Google user on non-Google sites to respect their ad-personalisation settings and cap ad frequency across devices. | 2 weeks |
FCNEC / FCCDCFwww.mypdfmate.com | Cookie | Stores your consent choices if Google's own consent message (Privacy & messaging) is enabled for this site. | 13 months | |
receive-cookie-deprecationwww.mypdfmate.com | Cookie | Chrome Privacy Sandbox testing label used by Google to evaluate cookie-less advertising. | 180 days |
Names, purposes and lifetimes follow Google's published documentation and may change. The authoritative lists are Google's types of cookies used by Google and cookies used by Google advertising products. Where supported and permitted, Google may also use browser-based advertising features such as Chrome's Topics API instead of, or alongside, cookies.
Google may share information collected through these cookies with Google-certified ad technology providers for the purposes described above. To learn how Google uses data when you use our Site, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google's advertising policies. Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
We do not sell your personal information ourselves. However, some US state laws treat the use of third-party advertising cookies as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or as "targeted advertising". Rejecting the Advertising category, using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer, or sending a Global Privacy Control signal each opt you out of this.
6. Your choices and how to control cookies
Our consent tool. The first time you visit, a banner lets you accept all, reject all, or manage categories individually. Rejecting takes exactly as many clicks as accepting. You can revisit your choice at any time, on any page, via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer, or with the button below. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it and does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew.
Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser or an extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to reject all optional cookies and an opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We apply it automatically and tell you so; you can still opt in later if you wish. We do not currently respond to the older "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting because there is no agreed standard for what it means.
Google's controls. You can turn off personalised ads across all Google services at Google Ads Settings, and review or delete Google's cookies at My Ad Center. On Android and iOS you can also reset or limit your device's advertising identifier in the system privacy settings.
Industry opt-outs. Depending on where you live, you can opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies at once through the Digital Advertising Alliance (US), Network Advertising Initiative (US), Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada or Your Online Choices (Europe).
Your browser. Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, including third-party cookies only, and clear site data such as local storage. Instructions for the most common browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge. Note that clearing site data also deletes your saved cookie choice and theme, so we will ask you again on your next visit.
7. What happens if you reject cookies
Every tool on MyPDFMate works exactly the same whether you accept or reject optional cookies. Rejecting simply means:
- No advertising cookies are set, and we delete any Google advertising cookies on our domain that were set while you had previously accepted.
- Google is told through Consent Mode that it may not store or read cookies and may not personalise ads for you.
- Depending on your region and our current set-up, you may still see contextual ads that do not use cookies, or no ads at all.
- Cookies set by Google on its own domains (for example
google.comordoubleclick.net) cannot be deleted by us; you can remove them in your browser settings or through Google's controls listed above.
Strictly necessary cookies and storage remain, because without them we could not remember that you rejected the others.
8. How we record and keep your consent
Your choice is stored in the first-party cookie mpm_consentand mirrored in your browser's local storage. The record contains the version of this policy you agreed to, the date and time, which categories you enabled, and whether you chose "Accept all", "Reject all", a custom selection, or whether a Global Privacy Control signal was applied. It contains nothing that identifies you and is never sent to our servers.
We keep this record for 12months, after which we ask again. We also ask again whenever this policy changes in a way that affects your choices (the policy version number above increases). You can see your current record, when it was made and the exact signals we send to Google in the "Your current choices" panel at the top of this page, and delete it with "Withdraw consent & reset".
9. Regional information
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland.Under the ePrivacy Directive (as implemented in national law, for example the UK's PECR), the GDPR and the Swiss FADP, we may only place non-essential cookies with your prior consent, which is our legal basis for the Analytics and Advertising categories (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent and, where personal data is involved, processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working service (Art. 6(1)(f)). You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, to access, correct or erase your data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Google is an independent controller for the data it collects through advertising cookies, and its Ireland-based entity serves as your contact in the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
United States. If you live in California or another state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas or Oregon), you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and of targeted advertising. Rejecting the Advertising category, using the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer, or enabling Global Privacy Control exercises that right. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Everywhere else.We apply the same opt-in approach worldwide. Laws such as Brazil's LGPD, Canada's PIPEDA and Australia's Privacy Act may give you additional rights; contact us and we will help you exercise them.
10. Children
MyPDFMate is a general-audience service and is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or knowingly show them personalised advertising. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We review this policy whenever we add or remove a service that uses cookies, and at least once a year. Changes are published on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change affects the choices you have made, we increase the policy version number and ask for your consent again on your next visit.
